    Economic tumult hasn't left everyone in a state of disrepair; it turns out that the last year has actually been fortuitous to those who rely on rental housing.

    The Kelowna area apartment vacancy rate increased to three per cent in October 2009, with the bulk growth happening in the downtown core and Rutland.

  • Depreciation Report Legislation

    Most people don’t look at a building and see a living entity. Instead, they see a structure made of masonry, wood, glass and vinyl. However, buildings are very much alive. They  breathe, move, make noise and go through a lifecycle much like us humans do.

    With the soon expected Depreciation Report legislation will come the need for strata corporations to identify their building’s unique lifecycle and plan to provide the TLC needed to ensure their home grows to a healthy old age.

    Dear StrataScene:
    I live in an apartment style strata complex and wanted to know if I’m able to display an election sign for the current federal election campaign.

    Yes, strata residents are allowed to display election material, but as all things involving stratas there are conditions and rules to follow. Section 322 of The Canada Elections Act provides that no condominium corporation, or any of its agents, may prohibit the owner of a condominium unit from displaying election advertising posters in his or her unit.
